This is a showcase of great sibling affection. Aninka is thirteen years old and unable to paint herself, whereas her sister Danielka, two years Aninka’s junior, completed the painting with precision and care. Whatever the elder sister cannot do, the younger one can. Danielka adores her sister, despite not being able to talk to her or play with her the way she would wish. And that is the joy of family…

Meaning of Life

Damián Musil, CZ (2)

Damiánko’s mental and physical development lagged from birth. He cannot sit up yet, but everyone believes he will make it one day. He has a beautiful smile and his large eyes win everyone over. He was excited when they contoured his hand onto the paper and when he pushed the brush along with his mommy – a small feat for a healthy person but a monumental step forward for Dami while engaging in a new activity he enjoyed very much.

Small Joys

Romana Vlková (20)

Romanka had to start all over at fifteen when a cerebrovascular accident struck unexpectedly. Everything changed. She won the fight for her life but the left side of her body remained paralyzed. Today she is a college student, enjoys reading and drawing, values life, and looks forward to every single day.

Leo the Horse in the Forest

Nikoleta Čapkovičová (35)

Nikoleta lights up any space she enters. She loves talking to people and her smile spreads joy in every direction. Nikolka is a passionate horse person – she rides and lovingly takes care of them. She also studies languages and has discovered comic books recently. She desires to live her life actively.

Island of Happiness

Juliette Bodenseh, DE (22)

Juliette is completely dependent on the assistance of her loved ones, but it makes her life all the richer. Juliette painted her picture with her mother’s help and with her father turning Juliette’s wheelchair every which way. Her mom helped her hold her brush, assisting a grown daughter who will forever remain a child. Watching them paint left an impression. They painted with great determination, love, and humor.

Summertime

Paula Mathilda Münter, DE (16)

Paula is a perceptive and intelligent young lady who always looks forward to visiting ADELI. She is a genuinely communicative person who will no doubt make something of herself. She has accepted her condition, and while she does not make light of it, she also does not overestimate its impact. Paula has an enormous gift – she radiates such optimism and peace that they infect everyone around her.

Rainbow

Emily Langheim, GB (5)

Emily is a tiny livewire, filling every space with her presence. She does not see her disability as an obstacle, in fact, quite the opposite. Every day she barrels though apparent barriers and enjoys every single moment of her day. She is impervious to the concept of “cannot do” and follows her healthy siblings into every activity. Emily loves dancing, gymnastics, running, and jumping, despite not being able to walk just two years ago.

Love Butterfly

Mária Ščepánková (13)

Majka is one half of a set of twins. However, she and her sister Lenka are inseparable. They both graduated high school and got an associate’s degree in social work, and they both hope to find fulfilling work. They enjoy everything – castles, animals, literature, music, water, flowers. They happily accept and share affection, and want to live and enjoy their lives to the fullest. Their motto is, “One can achieve a lot despite handicaps; you just have to be positive.”

Dolphin Sunset

Diara Vivien Klement, DE (12)

Diara Vivien needed her family’s help in completing her picture because her condition hinders her freedom of movement. Despite that, Diara Vivien was overjoyed with the final product because she enjoys all that is new, different, interesting. Even though her communication capacity is limited, the young lady knows how to show her enthusiasm with a bright smile and sparkling eyes.

Niklas can always count on his younger sister Lisa. It was her who gave Niklas’s painting its fi nal form, working with great dedication because she wants her big brother to practice and receive treatment at ADELI as much as possible, also thanks to their Rainbow Tree.
